Foaming is only possible on certain plastics. The laser beam melts the plastic locally which creates small gas bubbles which are enclosed when the material cools down. Instead of the flat engraving, a 'raised' mark is produced which is relatively wide. The light is randomly reflected at the work spots - these areas therefore appear lighter in colour. There is no great dispersion with this process. |
